Warlord Krugerov is a very powerful NPC which can easily be dropped into any standard fantasy campaign. He is now but a shade of his former glory, yet his magical armor and sword make him a formidable foe for all but the most experienced and hardy heroes.
The legend of Warlord Krugerov is as follows: many generations ago, a horrible warlord named Krugerov led a horde of barbaric raiders against a peaceful kingdom. A fierce, bloody battle was fought, but eventually Krugerov was victorious and he subjugated the people of that kingdom. It is rumored that Krugerov personally led the charges and attacks, wading into battle wearing a suit of inky black armor and a matching sword. It is further rumored that he sustained many mortal wounds, yet continued to trudge forth in his quest as if he were not affected by them.
After several years of oppression, the peasants rose up in a revolt against Krugerov, razing his castle with him inside. Krugerov was never seen nor heard from again, nor was his body ever found. Now, the surrounding forest has swallowed up the ruins of his castle, and most people have forgotten the evil of Warlord Krugerov.
The reality of the situation, however, is far more horrific than the
legends.
Krugerov's inky black plate mail armor is enchanted - it not only
provides +4 to DDF, but it ignores all "minus" results on the 4dF roll. Further, while wearing the armor, the effects of all wounds are ignored. Once the armor is removed, however, all wounds taken immediately take affect.
Krugerov's inky black sword is also enchanted - it not only provides +2 to ODF, but it also ignores all "minus" results on the 4dF roll.
When the peasants razed Krugerov's castle, he donned the armor and retreated to the dungeons. As he retreated, the flames assaulted him and burned him to what should have been a horrible death. However, wearing the armor, his death was avoided. He became a horrible undead creature, a smoldering shell of a man reliant on his armor to continue his existence. To this day he broods, never removing the armor for to do so would mean his doom - endlessly plotting his revenge against the people that brought his reign to an end.
Warlord Krugerov should have no attibute below fair - his undead status gives him supernatural strength. Further, he has a Great sword skill, and whatever other skills would make him a convincing "bad guy" in your campaign. He also wears the magic armor and wields the magic sword. Should Krugerov ever remove his armor, his body will shrivel up and die, finally having to deal with the wounds inflicted on him over so many years.
